    Users do not need to connect to the computer to run the protocol. After completing the protocol creation on your computer, upload it to Flex, which can be operated through the touch screen.

  • Can an OT-2 pipette be used on Opentrons Flex?

    No, the OT-2 pipette does not fit Opentrons Flex.

  • Is the Opentrons Flex side panel removable?

    Yes, the side windows and front doors of the Opentrons Flex are removable.

  • Does Opentrons Flex have collision detection function?

    Opentrons Flex will detect collisions by comparing the actual movement of the embedded motor with the expected movement. For example, if the robot expects to perform 2 motor rotations, but only 1 rotation is completed due to a collision (stop motor movement) the robot will detect the difference between the expected movement and the actual movement. Then an error message will appear telling you that you need to recalibrate.

  • Can I control multiple Opentrons Flexes with one computer?

    Can! The same applies to OT-2.

  • How many saved protocols can be displayed on Opentrons Flex?

    Users can save up to 8 protocols on the Opentrons Flex touch screen.

  • What is the gap between the rear space of the Opentrons Flex for power and ventilation?

    20 cm (8 inches) side and back clearance for cable, USB connection, and dissipate exhaust from instruments such as thermal cycle modules or temperature control modules.
