PRL's gold standard PCR test effective against Omicron's 'stealth' BA.2 subvariant

PRL has encountered a small number of BA.2 Omicron variants. Our PCR tests remain effective against SARS-CoV-2 and known variants.

Epidemic response laboratory reliable, low-cost, rapid PCR and whole-genome sequencing capabilities are critical for continued vigilance against new SARS-CoV-2 variants. To date, our molecular PCR tests continue to accurately detect SARS-CoV-2 and its known variants, including the “stealth” Omicron subvariant BA.2. As of January 30, our sequencing pipeline has encountered a small number of BA.2 variants, and we continue to report processed genomes to public databases.
