Temple and Penn ramp up COVID-19 testing as students return to campus

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A new lab is proof Temple University isn't taking COVID-19 lightly.

"This is a lab and a process that didn't exist six weeks ago," said Mark Dennis of Temple University School of Medicine.

Temple School of Medicine’s lab has the capacity to process 20,000 COVID-19 tests per week. The goal is to keep campus as safe as possible and prevent the spread of the virus.

"Testing by itself does not prevent an individual from contracting COVID-19, but what we hope to prevent is that individual causing a cluster of infections and that cluster of infections leading to an outbreak," Denys said.
